The Luminarias are back this year! Woodland-The Community Church will be lining all the streets of the Samoset Triangle with the luminaria lanters (paper bags with candles in them) on Sunday evening, December 18 (6:00-9:00pm).

At the OASIS Center (6-9pm) we will be providing FREE holiday fun, snacks, music, crafts, hair cuts for kids and free photo with Santa for residents of the Samoset community. Bring your family!

Youth Group to Meet Tuesday Nights at OASIS 7pm

The Maranatha Morija Alliance Church will be using the OASIS Center each Tuesday night for teen oriented activity and Bible study. Come join them if you are a middle school or high school student and live in Samoset.

Back Pack & School Supply Bash Sat. Aug. 13, 5:00-7:00pm

Come out to the OASIS Center in Samoset for free hot dogs, water slide, and backpack give away for kids. Each pack is filled with age appropriate supplies for elementary (younger or older grades).

JD, Julius, and James Mix It Up on the OASIS Court

Our three college students are here for the summer to put on daily recreation and sports activities for kids and teens at the OASIS Center.

OASIS to Serve Free Lunches This Summer For Kids

Samoset Elementary will not be doing the free lunch program for students 18 and under. But we will be serving the lunches at OASIS.

The Summer Food Service Program sponsored by Manatee County Government has asked Woodland Church and OASIS Community Center in Samoset to provide the free lunch program to children 18 and under, Mondays-Fridays, from 06/13/11 – 08/12/11.

Este verano Samoset la escuela primaria no servirá almuerzos gratuitos para los estudiantes menores de 18 años.

Condado de Manatee nos ha pedido que sea el lugar para almuerzos gratis este verano, de lunes a viernes, a partir de junio 13 al 12 de agosto. Los almuerzos son sólo para las personas age18 o menos. Serán almuerzos fríos, y serán en bolsas. Cada comida se incluyen la leche. Vamos a almorzar fuera en el marco del nuevo pabellón.

Meet JD, Julius and James (Host Homes Needed for Summer)

Again this summer we will have summer college missionaries appointed by the North American Mission Board.

Justin “JD” Mason is a communications student at Liberty University in Virginia.

He played football and wrestled in high school and he is currently training for mixed martial arts competition.

Julius Tennal is a college student at UNC Chapel Hill, NC. Julius played basketball in high school and discovered a knack for writing and poetry…which has led to developing hip hop tunes.

Can’t wait to get him on the mic under our new pavilion. Julius is in the house! But more than anything Julius loves the Lord and plans to be an international missionary.

We now have a third college student to join the team this summer, James Griffeth!

James just finished his sophomore year at Middle Georgia Tech where he is an elementary ed major. James played football in high school (I’m guessing full back?) and loves the Lord.

Pavilion Roof Going On at OASIS

If you drive by the attached pavilion now really looks like a pavilion. The plywood decking is on the roof. It looks great! Thanks to the volunteers who set the trusses.

Three Summer Missionaries Coming!

This summer we have three young men who will be investing their summer ministering out of the OASIS Center! If you were here last year you know what a blessing it was to have Merrick and Jose.

This year we have Justin, David, and Julius. More details to follow. But they will start in Samoset May 31 to Aug. 3.

Needed: 3 host homes for the summer for our college summer missionaries.
